Monday Made It - ModPodge Style

Hi, my name is Marcy.  I am a teacher, moose fanatic, and LOVER of MODPODGE!  Yes, you read that correctly, I LOVE ModPodge!  I don't know what it is about the stuff, but it can transform anything into a masterpiece.  Just look at today's Monday Made It.
I having been holding on to these awesome Talenti gelato containers just waiting to craft with them.  By the way, if you are not familiar with Talenti gelato head to the store NOW and get some; not only are they gluten free (a must for me), but they are AMAZING!!
I decided to beautify these containers and use them for classroom manipulatives and supplies.
I used scrapbook paper, ModPodge, a paintbrush, and scissors for this project.
Once I measured out the paper, I coated the container with ModPodge.  An important trick is to make sure that each layer is thin.  If you use too much ModPodge is creates bubbles and no one wants bubbles.
When ever you are covering a round object, it helps to cut slits at the bottom of your covering.  It allows for easier wrapping.

I love the way they turned out!

I can't wait to make more and fill them with manipulatives.  I looks like my next project is going to be cute labels for them.

Happy Creating!!!

Monday Made It - Creating Away

I love summer!  Not only because I get to sleep in, walk the dog when I choose, take a nap whenever. Nope, but because it lets me reconnect with the teacher blogger and TPT world.  I spent this past week creating away and I am so excited to show you my new goodies with today's Monday Made It!

I updated and bundled all of my chevron decor!

I created a short vowel Roll Read Color Roll Read Write...

to go with the long vowel edition.

Finally, I created a fun interactive short vowel (CVC) game that can be used so many different ways!

The best part is, I am giving one of each of these away!  Just comment below with which product you would like to win and why and I will choose a random winner for each product later this week.

Happy Creating!!!

Monday Made It - Custom Bookmarks

Happy Summer!!!!  I am back and ready to ENJOY my time!  Thank you to those of you who have stuck around; the last 6 months have rocked my world.  Between student teachers, teaching, living, taking care of my home, getting sick, and trying to relax blogging really took a back seat.  That is the whole thing here though, Finding Balance!
I decided to take a break from yard work and bust out the hot glue gun for today's Monday Made It.
Custom Bookmarks!!!!  I can't wait for my kiddos to pick their own charm this fall.  I plan on having each student choose their own charm/button to create their own bookmark at the beginning of the year.

Supplies: jumbo paper clips, fun buttons, and hot glue.

Just hot glue buttons to the tops of the jumbo paperclips.  Be sure to add enough glue to make them sturdy.

I love this little octopus bookmark!

Happy Creating!!!

Now, onto my new creations:
I made these adorable (if I don't say so myself) Sterilite drawer labels.

I love MOD PODGE!
I was able to cover this can with scrapbook paper.  I am going to store sight word pointers in it.  Be sure to check out my Instagram tomorrow to see it in my classroom.

What have you been working on in your classroom?

Monday Made It - Getting the Classroom Ready

I can't believe that there are only a few days left of summer break.  I am moving full speed ahead on getting my classroom ready, and am so excited to share some items I have created.
Check out all of the amazing creations teachers have been working on.

I am in love with the digital paper that Autumn has created.  The chevron is perfect and the colors are wonderful.  I have used her papers to create a ton of items in my classroom.  I love the way my behavior clip chart pieces have turned out.  Now, I just need to attach them to the yellow ribbon I picked up from Michaels.
I also used the chevron paper to create table labels for my students' supply baskets, crayon boxes, writing boxes, and who knows what else.  I am trying to learn how to use my new circle cutter so that it doesn't look like one of my students cut out the circles.  Any tips on how to use this thing?
I am so excited to have my birthday board pieces created.  I can't wait to get my class list and add each of my students to a scoop.

I love the way these turned out!

Everything you see here is available in my TPT store.  Happy Creating!

Monday Made It - Organizing Sight Word Sticks and Center Materials

I love Monday Made It link ups.  Thank you Tara for hosting!
One of my goals, last year, was to start making more time for myself.  As a way to set aside some time, I subscribed to ISPY.  If you haven't heard of IPSY, it is a monthly beauty bag filled with samples and full sized items each month.  It is a fun surprise that I have really come to enjoy.  The beauty bag comes in these amazing pink bubble envelopes each month, which I don't feel right throwing away.  They have begun to pile up, so I knew I needed to do something with them.

The first thing that needed to happen was removing the sticky seal.  I was able to pull off the vast majority of it.  What was left I covered with velcro.  I love velcro!

After transforming them into pouches, I knew that they would be perfect for varying center materials.  I picked up 1/2 page sticker shipping labels and got to work.

My students use sight word sticks (click here for this set of stickers-they print on Avery 8167) for a ton of their centers.  These pouches help keep each set organized.  I color-coded the sets in order to make more than one.  Having 33 students requires quite a few sets of materials.

Quickly running a marker along the edge is a great way to separate sets.
This Monday Made It will allow using Reagan's Sight Word Stick Centers so much easier.  If you haven't checked out this pack, I highly recommend it.

How do you keep your centers organized?

Monday Made It: Chevron Hair Ties

After the busy weekend I had, sitting down and crafting was definitely in order. Like so many of you, I love crafting as a gift.  I decided to create these fun Back to School gifts for my colleagues.

Chevron Hair Ties!
"I can't wait to PULL TOGETHER for a fabulous year!"

You need:
Cut the elastic into 9"pieces.

Knot each piece of elastic.  You may need to singe the ends to stop any fraying.

I am so happy with they way that they turned out and can't wait to hand them out!

You can grab the phrase cards here (clip art is by Ashley Hughes).  Please leave a comment if you end up using these.  I would love to hear from you.

Thank you, Tara, for hosting Monday Made It!  I look forward to all the amazing creations!
