I can't be the only one that loves a fresh coat of polish?!? There are a couple things that make be feel (somewhat) put together and nail polish is one of them. I am a firm believer in self care and spending some quiet time painting my nails, after my kiddos go to sleep, is one thing that helps me manage stress.<br />
<br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6Gf-1xgac3a5AtKAHpLQZZP16waVjJrf1dM_A0vwe8kl2lkOJpnBtQ-CY_1L9E-uGy-Pza4TZ8yB2sxP3escm4EYMq-AJFOd9fNd3Y8MNVF308tFKdCsElRoIgnCnim7HaLvfBZAhagU/s1600/IMG_2402.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6Gf-1xgac3a5AtKAHpLQZZP16waVjJrf1dM_A0vwe8kl2lkOJpnBtQ-CY_1L9E-uGy-Pza4TZ8yB2sxP3escm4EYMq-AJFOd9fNd3Y8MNVF308tFKdCsElRoIgnCnim7HaLvfBZAhagU/s320/IMG_2402.jpg" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Color: Pre-Show Jitters<br />Bracelets (from top):<br /><a href="https://www.stelladot.com/c/pd5ld">Balance Intention Bracelet</a><br /><a href="https://stelladot.com/c/yk2j6">Nicholette Stretch Bracelet</a><br /><a href="https://stelladot.com/c/4bu1a">Strength Intention Bracelet</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
However, I do not like the fact that regular polish can chip in 4.2 seconds. Thank goodness for gel polishes! I have been loving <a href="https://www.essie.com/">essie brand gel couture</a>. The colors are gorgeous and the polish actually lasts throughout the week. One trick I figured out is that I have to seal the polish in but applying it to the front of my nail. I don't know why, but it seems to help it last longer.<br />

That is why I am still loving the <i>Letter Buddies series</i>, from Hameray Publishing. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3Scs2vO5fUzHubTgC4OHrcBfDwnZ6rKNUj1YYRp0Gv6zEuJfP3YR76GiWA5JVcZ_TpIprzmJx5cZeOAJ6yFAiM85aqCPE1pBjfnUXkVSxxoKmdiUnZ-hakGeFOcar5U9AYNHOvrmWjUA/s1600/hameray-early-childhood-letter-learning-resources-teachers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="369" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3Scs2vO5fUzHubTgC4OHrcBfDwnZ6rKNUj1YYRp0Gv6zEuJfP3YR76GiWA5JVcZ_TpIprzmJx5cZeOAJ6yFAiM85aqCPE1pBjfnUXkVSxxoKmdiUnZ-hakGeFOcar5U9AYNHOvrmWjUA/s640/hameray-early-childhood-letter-learning-resources-teachers.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
You can read all about how I used the <a href="http://www.searchingforteacherbalance.com/2017/01/word-recognition-with-letter-buddies.html">first stage of <i>Letter Buddies</i> with my developing readers here</a>. We have since moved into blends, which is huge for my readers! I am so proud of them and the connections that they have been making. <br />
The blends books that are the next stage in the <i>Letter Buddies series</i>, by <a href="http://www.hameraypublishing.com/letter-buddies">Hameray Publishing</a>, are the perfect bridge to sight word development that all developing reading must achieve. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL4b_VDqZr5qU2lamV4QMeu1JBm2cZuaFA5gaEnZivFt679K-NzOZOuev2jJn6h3WKY9eR1NUXRvg4ekRfIZ62wUxWAyT9JGmhq8t9LCZhaKT8GgthndfRn-23LOt9o06unrlqAA7PskI/s1600/Slide1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL4b_VDqZr5qU2lamV4QMeu1JBm2cZuaFA5gaEnZivFt679K-NzOZOuev2jJn6h3WKY9eR1NUXRvg4ekRfIZ62wUxWAyT9JGmhq8t9LCZhaKT8GgthndfRn-23LOt9o06unrlqAA7PskI/s320/Slide1.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Just like the first stage, the blends books, have a sight word reader and a pattern book that go together.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4Drx1XFi-wZLMdZDuLWSFVKJpcz5_hro-uzYNL-XPTDfZTZJA7biXNi1EOUfFlzwVrXqOobS8xzhHNgbT5fDEcwF5NTg__BxShkmUFNLy2Ld2goZeUngmKOXXssjRJB6ASZS5Nihna7A/s1600/Slide2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4Drx1XFi-wZLMdZDuLWSFVKJpcz5_hro-uzYNL-XPTDfZTZJA7biXNi1EOUfFlzwVrXqOobS8xzhHNgbT5fDEcwF5NTg__BxShkmUFNLy2Ld2goZeUngmKOXXssjRJB6ASZS5Nihna7A/s320/Slide2.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
After reading and reviewing the sight word book, my kiddos practiced building the words and finding connections between other words that they have learned.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUn_gfmGIMKIGj_FR8I2khAGhzKyAHX5oQ0ESkO_A8Bs_WUgh1x8a2_6Xkfhr8ZV3f19Z5rZrbQdrJ4x6n2sSJ7tSQPZlEE0QvinV9f6vYYAXBGSq01kHaAMbO7Y13HLlAkkvQnvxPNXg/s1600/Slide4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUn_gfmGIMKIGj_FR8I2khAGhzKyAHX5oQ0ESkO_A8Bs_WUgh1x8a2_6Xkfhr8ZV3f19Z5rZrbQdrJ4x6n2sSJ7tSQPZlEE0QvinV9f6vYYAXBGSq01kHaAMbO7Y13HLlAkkvQnvxPNXg/s320/Slide4.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
They then applied these new words to the pattern book. The successes they have with the pattern book are incredible because they are familiar with the words, thanks to the sight word reader. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUdGF6QYPVjPsRYUeH4SwNlks5HQOGV3Wr4TqCl1xo4CP_PMl72tqW7_jTvqvOCCyQYInaC9ljQwPrtd7UZQ3p0vWbbZJvNbfrCl-VO9eTJm2rkBpgFu7asrLPwRY8UzudjdJ5Y3LnR78/s1600/Slide3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUdGF6QYPVjPsRYUeH4SwNlks5HQOGV3Wr4TqCl1xo4CP_PMl72tqW7_jTvqvOCCyQYInaC9ljQwPrtd7UZQ3p0vWbbZJvNbfrCl-VO9eTJm2rkBpgFu7asrLPwRY8UzudjdJ5Y3LnR78/s320/Slide3.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
If you haven't checked out the <i>Letter Buddy series</i>, from Hameray Publishing, get on it. I cannot say enough great things about these books.<br />

<br />
This weekend was incredible! I had the privilege of sharing my passion for Readers' Workshop with other educators at the Oregon Reading Association's Winter Institute. I presented on tips for managing an engaging Readers' Workshop. <br />
One of the most important parts of this, is organization. As teachers we know that organization is the foundation to all of our teaching. Without it many of us are lost. For that reason, I wanted to share with you the organizer that I use when planning out my Workshop overview each week. This does not replace my lesson plans. This overview is my plans for my workshop each week. Just like my lesson plans it may change, but I love that I can record notes and observations on it, which I revisit daily.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://bit.ly/2kmphCE"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr2KtyX_jVTcpNAs1vLnSM1NLn1gtTAcoWr4YRjfpk9-kJ_aNw3h5lDBhUE4v0WuaJ6UGx0e26PB2Cmfe3dczJmZ-FKdXqSNqlyvtBIAd9jQi5OdTRswGukuG42qvI824I2i0EABvheRY/s400/Slide1.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://bit.ly/2kmphCE">This planner </a>can easily be used with writing and math as well. I hope this saves you a little bit of sanity as we enter a crazy week.<br />
<br />
What do you use to keep all of your groups and conferences organized? Leave a comment below, I would love to hear from you.<br />

Yes, more than one!!Valentine's Day is around the corner and I don't know about you, but I feel like it has become worse than Halloween in the terms of sweets and treats. Several years ago, I informed my student that treats would no longer be allowed. I encouraged them to make cards and tokens of their affection for each of their classmates. With food allergies and the need for healthy choices in schools, I am sticking to it. <br />
This year, I am giving my students fortune cookie erasers with <a href="http://bit.ly/2lij6Az">these fortunes (you can grab a free copy here</a>). <a href="http://www.orientaltrading.com/paper-fortune-cookies-idea-a2-PT2068.fltr?Ntt=fortune%20cookie">Oriental Trading</a> also has an awesome assortment of fortune cookies. From charms to plastic cookies, these novelties make the perfect valentine gift <a href="http://bit.ly/2lij6Az">with these tags</a>. <br />

My students and I recently read the book <u>The Biggest Valentine Ever</u>, by Steven Kroll. It is an adorable story of two boys that realize that working together isn't easy, but it is so worth it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtlKbKyCC7655f8m9KzoFnEFfbJCJeaTfAA5rcPz85q5vjDj_Z_VmnodriD6_MRFL-zAgN8Ujfv_k6aqToo8jdp2rV5LmmQLtS6LEBo_hDU33ntPGRjXvOUFxrnr93owZgzTAlUeJEn3s/s1600/Slide1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtlKbKyCC7655f8m9KzoFnEFfbJCJeaTfAA5rcPz85q5vjDj_Z_VmnodriD6_MRFL-zAgN8Ujfv_k6aqToo8jdp2rV5LmmQLtS6LEBo_hDU33ntPGRjXvOUFxrnr93owZgzTAlUeJEn3s/s400/Slide1.png" width="400" /></a></div>
Together they end up creating the most amazing valentine ever, a Valentine Mouse for their teacher.<br />

<br />
This <a href="http://bit.ly/2kMMsKg">craftivity</a> pairs perfectly with the book, but can be used without it. Honestly, is the perfect craft for any day of the year. I mean, how cute is this mouse. <br />

I am super grateful that these were left in the classroom I moved into. They have provided a place for students to keep their individual tools and materials. However, I am scared to know what my students' rooms look like based on how messy their cubbies are.<br />
I decided I needed an incentive so enter, <i>The Cubby Fairy</i>. She drops in when no one is around and checks the status of our classroom cubbies. If she likes what she sees, she walks into the cubby, leaves some fairy dust behind, and drops a note off. The note indicates that the student did an awesome job keeping their cubby organized and can head to the prize drawers. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://bit.ly/cubbyfairy"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9fqUr0XVY0290HfvwbpTsHL_TQxLMOivD06sMYANZl_kRoA_XUuO2F5DPTWuJuwVfSfv3rI1d2uV2B-T5cezt3-mUZCZozIo5OTyHItcDwWWhPJVnlxxiYcf65vahkDNITykzIky_7qA/s320/Slide1.png" width="320" /></a></div>
This has been a game changer. Now I have kiddos taking the time to organize there space. I have had a decrease in students complaining because they can't find something or they don't know where a particular paper should go. They have taken ownership and I LOVE it. You can grab t<a href="http://bit.ly/cubbyfairy">his Cubby Fairy Letter</a> or a <a href="http://bit.ly/2l4IQnU">more generic one</a>, in case you don't have prize drawers, <a href="http://bit.ly/2l4IQnU">here</a>.<br />

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! What kind of fun plans does everyone have today? With the want to enjoy our weekends, I decided today's topic of Organized Planning was a must. <br />
Whether you are new to teaching or a veteran teacher, you know that planning a successful week takes time and energy, something that we are all lacking. Several years ago, I started using a <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Monthly-All-Subject-and-ELA-Planning-Guides-Editable-and-PDF-Versions-780467">planning guide</a>, that I created and it has helped me tremendously. <br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">*Please note, I have tweaked and revamped<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Monthly-All-Subject-and-ELA-Planning-Guides-Editable-and-PDF-Versions-780467"> this organizer</a> multiple times and I feel like it truly covers all aspects of my planning needs.*</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Monthly-All-Subject-and-ELA-Planning-Guides-Editable-and-PDF-Versions-780467"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhppXc4dTYamEpMjIR6g0XLHsoCBKmtyl7HGM_5c5H2Fq7mfG5ajEM4atOBCeDuQA8aXf-aZwsrmY1gaMtRznEouKqCW9a9CgX6Pbt5YvuPoa7-IWULCIv-q2Qb9rxSwonqeQMvfnZwVYs/s400/Slide1.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Monthly-All-Subject-and-ELA-Planning-Guides-Editable-and-PDF-Versions-780467">These organizers </a>are all that I bring to my team planning meetings because they allow me to take the notes I need, without feeling overwhelmed. I can then sit down and plug my detailed planning into Planbook.com. What I love is that I have a clear view of where I am starting and going each month. <br />
The <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Monthly-All-Subject-and-ELA-Planning-Guides-Editable-and-PDF-Versions-780467">organizers that you see here</a> are just one of the available templates. Also included is a year long overview, ELA organizer, and editable forms of everything. Click on the image above for more information and a direct link to these planners. Because everyone deserves to be organized, I am discounting these down for the next 24 hours. <br />
Do you love that feeling of being organized? What is your go to organizational tool for planning a successful week? Leave a comment below and let me know.<br />

I love that we get to take all of the foundational reading skills that they have developed and blast off to the next level of learning. We are no longer just reading to enjoy books, but we are reading to LEARN and grow as learners. <br />
This past week, we spent time learning about diagrams and captions. These two features are packed with information so we spent several days really diving into them. Much of our nonfiction reading has been done through <a href="https://shop.nationalgeographic.com/category/books/kids-books/animals-and-nature"><i>National Geographic Kids</i></a> and <i><a href="http://www.hameraypublishing.com/k-3-informational-texts">Hameray Publishing</a></i>. They both have an immense library of nonfiction readers that are perfect for my firsties.<br />
For this particular lesson, we used <u>Penguins</u> from <i>National Geographic Kids</i>. The students worked in teams of 4 to read and discover 4 traits that make penguins unique.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfED3xRnxqFWxX1wa0Y2og-4j40aHy1MGHEmhCg_Z4epYYTyWo-vYLgv-C28uCRLS4mtC9b2s1TCDR4XkpbwnOfWMAJ-y5z0Re_wanf9RhzPMh4FGy5HEk4rCv9yZLvmG_RJsK5NZt_AM/s1600/Slide1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfED3xRnxqFWxX1wa0Y2og-4j40aHy1MGHEmhCg_Z4epYYTyWo-vYLgv-C28uCRLS4mtC9b2s1TCDR4XkpbwnOfWMAJ-y5z0Re_wanf9RhzPMh4FGy5HEk4rCv9yZLvmG_RJsK5NZt_AM/s400/Slide1.png" width="400" /></a></div>
The focus was not on the entire book, but just on the diagram of the penguin. Students worked to read and summarize their findings. They took turns recording their discoveries in a 4 box. <a href="http://bit.ly/2kA8MY0">You can grab a copy of it here</a>. I also included a general version that could be used with any other animal or plant diagram. <br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #454545; font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white;">I am keeping it real with this month's <a href="http://www.searchingforteacherbalance.com/search/label/A%20Recipe%20and%20a%20Read%20Aloud">Recipe & A Read Aloud</a>. I feel like I aways keep it real, but right now I am EXTRA real. Life has been BANANAS (I just sang the Gwen Stefani song to check the spelling of that)! </span></span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #454545; font-family: "droid serif"; text-align: -webkit-center;">I love to cook, or at least of used to love to cook. I still make dinner every night, but I am not trying new recipes like I once did. Being a parent and working full time in no laughing matter. I am exhausted when I come home, but a healthy meal is a must. I am one to whip up some veggie-meat concoction and call it good, so I have no fancy recipe for you. *Side note: I am not looking for fancy recipes.* However, there is a recipe on repeat, in our house, right now, and the fact that little man can help make it is key!</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #454545; font-family: "droid serif"; text-align: -webkit-center;">I love that he wants to help in the kitchen, I think that it is so important that he sees that man or woman you have a space in the kitchen. I HATE gender bias and I don't want them in my son's world. So, enough with my soapbox rant, this is our favorite recipe right now and goodness they are YUMMY!</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: blue; font-family: "droid serif"; font-size: large; text-align: -webkit-center;">Gluten/Dairy Free Muffins</span><br />

<span style="background-color: white; color: #454545; font-family: "droid serif"; text-align: -webkit-center;">They are straight from Bob! <span style="background-color: white; color: #454545; font-family: "droid serif"; text-align: -webkit-center;">This GF muffin mix is so good and by using almond milk and canola oil it is easily dairy free. We always add some berries or ripe bananas.</span><br />

<span style="background-color: white; color: #454545; font-family: "droid serif"; text-align: -webkit-center;"> I never know how much fruit actually makes it into the batter. This kiddo loves to help by eating all the ingredients before they make it into the oven.</span><br />

<span style="background-color: white; color: #454545; font-family: "droid serif"; text-align: -webkit-center;">As you can see, they barely make it out of the muffin pan without one disappearing.</span><br />

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "droid serif"; text-align: -webkit-center;"><span style="color: #cc0000; font-size: large;">My Read Aloud</span></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #454545; font-family: "droid serif"; text-align: -webkit-center;">So my read aloud fits with this idea of a world free of gender bias. It is <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Violet-Pilot-Steve-Breen/dp/0425288196/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485837672&sr=8-1&keywords=violet+the+pilot">Violet the Pilot, by Steve Breen</a>. It is a fabulous story of a little girl that loves to tinker and build. Everyone thinks she is "weird" because of this, but it doesn't bother her. She sets out to build a flying machine to be a part of the air show, but never makes it because she just so happens to save a bunch of lives instead. This story is all about growth mindset and proves that girls are POWER HOUSES!</span><br />

<br />
This week is all about saving your laundry from those inevitable stains that we all know too well. First off, why don't more parents warn you about kid stains and the amount of laundry that would be added to your daily/weekly chores? Since having my son, I swear my washing machine doesn't stop. I am not one for super fragrant detergents and I made my own laundry soap for quite a while, but stain removal continued to be an issue. Even more of an issue was the amount of clothing that got thrown away due to oil based stains that never cleaned up right. I had just about had it until I stumbled across a random pin, on good-ole Pinterest, and decided to give it a whirl. I have since played around with it and today I have for you the GREATEST DIY stain remover!!!<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">All you need is: <i>Dawn</i> dish soap, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and an old toothbrush.</span><br />
Start by finding a garment that makes you want to shed a tear. I was so upset that I had only gotten one wear out of this beautiful top, from <a href="https://www.paizlee.com/"><i>Paizlee</i></a>. Little man thought that shaking his oily hands at dinner was a great idea; it was cute until the oil was all over my new top and not his hands.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqTPR8lF6_KE0S5aEtWPn6oQjJrPCV-rkyvMfvFKF3Tm8s9LDJT_7zjXL-Z8u2-rS69g01J-zqqxrafWi4D4301G51hVYTrucElbOJiVZt4jghVUU_yjA0yUOeCHFqZNASZrN9JSWHFrQ/s1600/Slide1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqTPR8lF6_KE0S5aEtWPn6oQjJrPCV-rkyvMfvFKF3Tm8s9LDJT_7zjXL-Z8u2-rS69g01J-zqqxrafWi4D4301G51hVYTrucElbOJiVZt4jghVUU_yjA0yUOeCHFqZNASZrN9JSWHFrQ/s400/Slide1.png" width="308" /></a></div>
Drizzle <i>Dawn</i> dish soap on all the stained areas.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha-oPgMsrPuVIw_-Fp_hUHqgGZGsEAPLU0tNMwQUYclhyphenhyphenSzmQZdw4scvg0_s-f3mj8tk9Vb412WDGvFKZ6EQNggYUbVoFVnMjirfITIuyX6drxyf_nCmfWFJP_wra0mcld06WSNb9e9K8/s1600/Slide2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha-oPgMsrPuVIw_-Fp_hUHqgGZGsEAPLU0tNMwQUYclhyphenhyphenSzmQZdw4scvg0_s-f3mj8tk9Vb412WDGvFKZ6EQNggYUbVoFVnMjirfITIuyX6drxyf_nCmfWFJP_wra0mcld06WSNb9e9K8/s400/Slide2.png" width="308" /></a></div>
Sprinkle baking soda over the dish soap. I always use too much baking soda, but it doesn't hurt the recipe.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgePaaQKrC_Rs2JZO9xM1niPRqMU590Hc2OWWfUYOPPK7rjxtZ8ry90G9uNEOC4W2vTKZu95lQhGftTH1lyUXaD-CpQLRcC-kxx_BUqq9xAd8O-JDg2WyaBUOmIUVOcb3TmsHdNdHMFIQQ/s1600/Slide3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgePaaQKrC_Rs2JZO9xM1niPRqMU590Hc2OWWfUYOPPK7rjxtZ8ry90G9uNEOC4W2vTKZu95lQhGftTH1lyUXaD-CpQLRcC-kxx_BUqq9xAd8O-JDg2WyaBUOmIUVOcb3TmsHdNdHMFIQQ/s400/Slide3.png" width="308" /></a></div>
Next, coat the baking soda in a layer of hydrogen peroxide. You want just enough to create a thick paste. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaXlaSd4gwGaeL7ba2bsqL1Hf2hwvuISL05q6eJvYMYVStZMXjbvib2LEfQNw4AyG_tNSpUCnGKx7BvDtTTkNUTxZn6N5Q119UvikU3HyZHsOhmuqbw_pw7XHVeumgswl7VMhgV9BmBKs/s1600/Slide4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaXlaSd4gwGaeL7ba2bsqL1Hf2hwvuISL05q6eJvYMYVStZMXjbvib2LEfQNw4AyG_tNSpUCnGKx7BvDtTTkNUTxZn6N5Q119UvikU3HyZHsOhmuqbw_pw7XHVeumgswl7VMhgV9BmBKs/s400/Slide4.png" width="308" /></a></div>
Use the toothbrush to gently work the paste into the stains.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Let this stain remover sit on the garment for an hour and then wash it normally.<br />
Finally, wear your <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/BPeJdEMhFxP/?taken-by=searching4tchrbalance">favorite piece of clothing again</a>! I posted <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/BPeJdEMhFxP/?taken-by=searching4tchrbalance">this picture </a>after using this incredible and easy stain remover.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I figured if it worked on the delicate fabric my top was made out of, it was worth a try on little man's stain-ridden clothing. I followed all of the above directions TWICE, yes, two times, and look at the before and after. <br />

I swear there are days when my kiddos are on it, they are recognizing all their sight words, and then POOF! the next day it is all gone. I decided to try out the <a href="http://www.hameraypublishing.com/letter-buddies"><i>Letter Buddies</i> series</a>, from <a href="http://www.hameraypublishing.com/home"><i>Hameray Publishing</i></a>, with my developing readers.<br />
According to <i>Hameray</i>, "<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: x-small; line-height: 20px;">This product line supports the development of letter knowledge and early literacy skills through l</span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: x-small; line-height: 20px;">etter recognition and formation, l</span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: x-small; line-height: 20px;">etter-sound correspondence, p</span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: x-small; line-height: 20px;">honemic awareness, v</span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: x-small; line-height: 20px;">ocabulary development, and o</span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: x-small; line-height: 20px;">ral language development." </span>I couldn't agree more with this statement. Right away my readers started building letter recognition that they struggled with prior to using this series.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRWoNZTkeko6n0F9fYOzlraaPcZQR7JiFL0KJVl_XAFnPe2EpgM5QrZRlSb4_i_fNHqOZc3LBkr55hsk_C4stKYkcZPwKXx6Nw4INgGD7SpwVCrNhj2SwPs8KzjNB8vfm7dINUaH1-OTQ/s1600/hameray-early-childhood-letter-learning-resources-teachers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRWoNZTkeko6n0F9fYOzlraaPcZQR7JiFL0KJVl_XAFnPe2EpgM5QrZRlSb4_i_fNHqOZc3LBkr55hsk_C4stKYkcZPwKXx6Nw4INgGD7SpwVCrNhj2SwPs8KzjNB8vfm7dINUaH1-OTQ/s400/hameray-early-childhood-letter-learning-resources-teachers.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
First of all, I love that the letters on the covers of the books are printed in a raised text. My kiddos were able to "feel" the letters before diving into the books. By using their kinesthetic sense, we began building a muscle memory that is vital for learners.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9370Qu65xMjQEzFbz0MLoIv8PhdSwpYD6w09Uc0P5QvNBj8VvpY3GX_0mcMsDanIPbhqDJhvY2-36Jmh3rcDSmgtcv41IB9Vij6a9pH7ACkRk42wmF9YTOdIHyAqy-6ftQQwFTug3kI0/s1600/Slide1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9370Qu65xMjQEzFbz0MLoIv8PhdSwpYD6w09Uc0P5QvNBj8VvpY3GX_0mcMsDanIPbhqDJhvY2-36Jmh3rcDSmgtcv41IB9Vij6a9pH7ACkRk42wmF9YTOdIHyAqy-6ftQQwFTug3kI0/s400/Slide1.png" width="308" /></a></div>
So each Letter Buddy has a book and a starter that go hand-in-hand. We started with the <a href="http://www.hameraypublishing.com/inc/sdetail/letter-buddies-letter-books--23-titles-/6025/6269">letter books </a>and practiced our letter and whole word recognition. This allowed my readers to begin connecting the inital letter throughout the book.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIGLp1WjWpJb6qRXQ2TmiWM2tQBBf-Q0jnenZET9DXHfmKHLs6btIKT0nMp2rDRMwEzohhiw6_KaHSPUQqfw-ToVtbxZ_fGTcIWmM5SCveUL55Ozhba_CJHrLVg8faNz8fdEe1OjQ5lTE/s1600/Slide2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIGLp1WjWpJb6qRXQ2TmiWM2tQBBf-Q0jnenZET9DXHfmKHLs6btIKT0nMp2rDRMwEzohhiw6_KaHSPUQqfw-ToVtbxZ_fGTcIWmM5SCveUL55Ozhba_CJHrLVg8faNz8fdEe1OjQ5lTE/s400/Slide2.png" width="308" /></a></div>
After spending time with the letter book, we reviewed the words, generated a few more, and started gaining more letter and sound connections. It was amazing listening to my readers as they inquired about their learning. One of my students, who has really struggled with letter recognition, asked "Why do all the words have red letters?" This is HUGE!! He took his learning past letter recognition to word recognition.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ27WRMUZr_stMXruhPeI7VbxqsRDA38ybl8OJ9mOqS2FS8kfr6YvxuUB-hAoQh-QhQ3T1qlTRGkVPpX1zhd-z8jIWhrm9vyh6Ju8ROM-yTo16cRdxSOX3Bzm0fUFzpVPsmqOvNJuihvk/s1600/Slide1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ27WRMUZr_stMXruhPeI7VbxqsRDA38ybl8OJ9mOqS2FS8kfr6YvxuUB-hAoQh-QhQ3T1qlTRGkVPpX1zhd-z8jIWhrm9vyh6Ju8ROM-yTo16cRdxSOX3Bzm0fUFzpVPsmqOvNJuihvk/s400/Slide1.png" width="308" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh47QDZM-ORMzFrYGiZAfr-vSUkn0txFme11Fy8ZFMpOgJmRnwy-y1nswAhCG8xdfa_6qfNwYHMEkTT_PN4zcFkAELliu_AgcSnhfya8dc70pvt6etTjaSyihJnLjsnfAwZawDPeRGULv4/s1600/Slide2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh47QDZM-ORMzFrYGiZAfr-vSUkn0txFme11Fy8ZFMpOgJmRnwy-y1nswAhCG8xdfa_6qfNwYHMEkTT_PN4zcFkAELliu_AgcSnhfya8dc70pvt6etTjaSyihJnLjsnfAwZawDPeRGULv4/s400/Slide2.png" width="308" /></a></div>
Once my readers showed an understanding of the letters and their sounds, we dove into the <a href="http://www.hameraypublishing.com/inc/sdetail/letter-buddies-starters/6025/7154">starter books</a>. These pattern books take the words that students practiced in the letter books and place them in an early reader. These pattern books allow for students to continue to build on their letter and word recognition, while gaining fluency and accuracy with more sight words.<br />
I am so excited for my readers and the skills that they have gained. I cannot wait to use the <i><a href="http://www.hameraypublishing.com/inc/sdetail/letter-buddies-blends-books/6025/7157">Letter Buddies Blends Books</a></i> with them!<br />

My kiddos are great about knowing which tool they need to support their leanring, but these <a href="http://bit.ly/2jXIYEf">sliding number lines</a> have been their go-to recently. <br />
The perks to this tool is the kinesthetic approach that is brings to counting. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dyPbPzB4aWPYhFC7e6PIFxbnR7GAKEXlrxiPVHiyH-oWyr-W45_WxR8FYf2CbF4Iv2hBfWyeK28c1L13JayNg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
Students start their bead at the first addend or subtrahend and then move up or down based on if the problem is addition or subtraction. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dw_7MfPT-yXf1OwVrv68OPsfET0U0VYTKlVrT0ol_-KOvX4a5rg0drFlY9rsRSv8hsVFuGdcM76_wKN10AP1w' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
The <a href="http://bit.ly/2jXIYEf">number lines </a>are also a snap to put together. Just print, on card stock for durability, laminate, hole punch, and attach a pipe cleaner or string with the bead. TADA! You have the perfect tool for your mathematicians!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYs8-rkrvb6BSwd1QVz9rFpOt2G6n8YAcS1EwYK7qz35GFSBFBIwbIe8sxKR62ZcJCbWNIhqOtd1x8KGHd7MZCNLzaAs1KS3q0BI3VMswWTR-uNRBnB_Ji_zigtDqC2XC3zcAN1U5lf1E/s1600/Slide2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYs8-rkrvb6BSwd1QVz9rFpOt2G6n8YAcS1EwYK7qz35GFSBFBIwbIe8sxKR62ZcJCbWNIhqOtd1x8KGHd7MZCNLzaAs1KS3q0BI3VMswWTR-uNRBnB_Ji_zigtDqC2XC3zcAN1U5lf1E/s400/Slide2.png" width="308" /></a></div>
<a href="https://www.wackylinks.com/">Wacky Links</a> encourage kids to use their imagination and explore their creative side. What parent and teacher doesn't want more of that in every child's life?!?! The DIY kits provide open ended fun for every kiddo!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBQf-m0dRzB5RwxEitxrcwQHiy0CQ_dDR-8EKkxYF3QjNAzNQw1ld2Poem2OyTjt-ZRhmZBL-O2QVrTvjKwdulrlmMtEbHY2o-DY7Ftb7nEDpx_8gia2OvvWZmplx59QGMU8ynEKhBTcA/s1600/Slide3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBQf-m0dRzB5RwxEitxrcwQHiy0CQ_dDR-8EKkxYF3QjNAzNQw1ld2Poem2OyTjt-ZRhmZBL-O2QVrTvjKwdulrlmMtEbHY2o-DY7Ftb7nEDpx_8gia2OvvWZmplx59QGMU8ynEKhBTcA/s400/Slide3.png" width="308" /></a></div>
The kits are comprised of colorful tubes that you can cut, bend, and connect to an assortment of pronged charms. The tubes are way more durable that I was expecting. They are designed to create a bit of suction onto the prongs making it like a <i>Chinese Finger Trap</i>. This is perfect so your kiddos don't have to worry about their creations falling apart.<br />
My students loved diving into the kits and watching some of the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR5FU0NVSVL3qtWeBhCJ4DQ">Wacky Links YouTube videos</a> for inspiration. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I let them play and explore and then gave them the task of creating a guitar with the <a href="https://www.wackylinks.com/product/rock-n-roll-kit/">Rock n' Roll Kit</a>. They definitely struggled at first, but that was the fun of it. The conversations and problem solving that took place were a teacher's dream!<br />

First of all, a HUGE thank you to Rachel, from <a href="http://www.thetattooedteacher.com/">The Tattooed Teacher</a>, for my amazing series logo! Isn't she so talented?!?!? <br />
I am so excited for #SundaySanitySavers to help you as much as they have helped me.<br />
<br />
Today's post is all about the CROCKPOT! Yup, that amazing device that was created to help moms, especially working moms, everywhere! Even better than busting out the crockpot is being able to toss 4 ingredients in it and have dinner ready 6 hours later. Without further ado....<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Cranberry Pork</span><br />
<br />
Ingredients:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>2 1/2 - 3 lb bone-in Pork Shoulder</li>
<li>1/4 c dried minced onion</li>
<li>1/4 c honey</li>
<li>1 can of whole cranberry sauce</li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIkG9v2dac9PFmNd8DlrBP6evC2bwioxAoPUlHcZUB6b2kI9CLgdw4JFE5wfI9XbbbwEm_1bYRLvuuRu0XZ9ocQD7kCzignwecYSO-U9YLQHwUNdyj1T-YBL_GGYZbLCxwXC9U7DFggmU/s1600/Slide4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIkG9v2dac9PFmNd8DlrBP6evC2bwioxAoPUlHcZUB6b2kI9CLgdw4JFE5wfI9XbbbwEm_1bYRLvuuRu0XZ9ocQD7kCzignwecYSO-U9YLQHwUNdyj1T-YBL_GGYZbLCxwXC9U7DFggmU/s400/Slide4.png" width="308" /></a></div>
<div>
Place the pork shoulder in the crockpot. Cover with onions and honey. Pour the can of cranberry sauce around the pork.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpQvP9vEj1UubLafjWTitR8ZMCjlodNA-txWcbOt9Ap137kdKZI-_xdsLRI-8uE2OkS_02M9gpOTtTO6FR0YCPuKsQ9-dqV4Ee2jbCwwdjRA53LC1XHowxdLfaqkMgOGSXaZpNLNk68G0/s1600/Slide1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpQvP9vEj1UubLafjWTitR8ZMCjlodNA-txWcbOt9Ap137kdKZI-_xdsLRI-8uE2OkS_02M9gpOTtTO6FR0YCPuKsQ9-dqV4Ee2jbCwwdjRA53LC1XHowxdLfaqkMgOGSXaZpNLNk68G0/s400/Slide1.png" width="308" /></a></div>
<div>
Set the crockpot for 6 hours, on LOW. Then, leave it. Seriously, do not touch it until it is done.</div>
<br />
Once the pork has finished cooking, shred with a fork and remove the bone.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTFV65CF4HQwocnPYe_bxDkh_V8NDENZA7fL3iVp1ydfPilCeGeJqeA_jyAwpKMITdzCXmbbUvp23Sf4ivr1w5wHtZoFfOxMextx17tYI4Qr5q6d1q8qHLlIMh8rQB_SgBznxeu_IWilc/s1600/Slide3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTFV65CF4HQwocnPYe_bxDkh_V8NDENZA7fL3iVp1ydfPilCeGeJqeA_jyAwpKMITdzCXmbbUvp23Sf4ivr1w5wHtZoFfOxMextx17tYI4Qr5q6d1q8qHLlIMh8rQB_SgBznxeu_IWilc/s400/Slide3.png" width="308" /></a></div>
This deliciousness pairs perfectly with rice and green beans. <br />

I love teaching, but I loathe the germs. I joke sometimes that I get sneezed on for a living. All jokes aside,<a href="http://musthavemom.com/stomp-out-stomach-flu-with-grape-juice/"> I read this interesting write up</a> and I am hoping it is TRUE!!<br />
Apparently grape juice has super powers I was not aware of. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPdRrPp5Yf8L8HqrQUGGiD5-F0lun3QT-2L6AhyevhChoR3B54bVUVWwpXCDEf0ulUppm3Em1OUOxShbYc2_9hH4WhKMibHxiwRUOfqt3EEmHyF4H3juoqGrt4ImHmA-y4X2zT_29mFt4/s1600/Slide1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPdRrPp5Yf8L8HqrQUGGiD5-F0lun3QT-2L6AhyevhChoR3B54bVUVWwpXCDEf0ulUppm3Em1OUOxShbYc2_9hH4WhKMibHxiwRUOfqt3EEmHyF4H3juoqGrt4ImHmA-y4X2zT_29mFt4/s400/Slide1.png" width="308" /></a></div>
Real grape juice, none of that sugar added, watered down stuff, has the ability to alter the pH in your intestinal track. By creating a more alkaline environment the virus is not supposed to be able to multiply in the intestines. Plus, grapes are high in vitamin C, which we know is great for immunity.<br />
Fingers crossed grape juice is as magical as the science behind it says because we have no room for a stomach bug in our house.<br />
<br />
What do you do to keep your immunity up? Do you have a special remedy for avoiding monster germs?<br />
<br />
**I am not a doctor! This post is my own opinion. If you have a medical question your doctor would be the one to answer it.**<br />

For me, one of those is meeting with each of my students everyday. It unfortunately just doesn't happen. Thanks to technology, I am able to check in with as many students as my heart desires from the comfort of my couch, while wearing my Pjs. This is not a joke! I am completely serious! <br />
There are two tools that I use in my classroom to gather fluency and accuracy data on my students.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhElnS7nze33w4lmfP3cEzoKZy4rXAyhsuChykO6VQ7Jp0cbM_ylyPdEQisVrtH6AnDHS_FlbQW5XJgX0nYZkyQts9kiAp8N4G_YKHAOYeXQlbsZvxI5O6IJn5b_31dbrPso-3cBSeatEE/s1600/Slide2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhElnS7nze33w4lmfP3cEzoKZy4rXAyhsuChykO6VQ7Jp0cbM_ylyPdEQisVrtH6AnDHS_FlbQW5XJgX0nYZkyQts9kiAp8N4G_YKHAOYeXQlbsZvxI5O6IJn5b_31dbrPso-3cBSeatEE/s400/Slide2.png" width="309" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<u><i><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://www.raz-kids.com/">Raz-Kids:</a></span></i></u></div>
This is the digital version of <i>Reading A-Z</i>. I love it because it doesn't just end at providing each student their own leveled book room, but each book is read to the students. Once students have listened to the story, they may practice reading it as many times as they choose. Once students are ready they record their reading. Finally, there are 5 comprehension questions for each story.<br />
The recordings that my kiddos do are sent to my computer. I then have the ability to listen to them on my time. <br />
I also have the ability to send them assignments; the readings are then cold reads.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhElnS7nze33w4lmfP3cEzoKZy4rXAyhsuChykO6VQ7Jp0cbM_ylyPdEQisVrtH6AnDHS_FlbQW5XJgX0nYZkyQts9kiAp8N4G_YKHAOYeXQlbsZvxI5O6IJn5b_31dbrPso-3cBSeatEE/s1600/Slide2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhElnS7nze33w4lmfP3cEzoKZy4rXAyhsuChykO6VQ7Jp0cbM_ylyPdEQisVrtH6AnDHS_FlbQW5XJgX0nYZkyQts9kiAp8N4G_YKHAOYeXQlbsZvxI5O6IJn5b_31dbrPso-3cBSeatEE/s400/Slide2.png" width="308" /></a></div>
<br />
I created <a href="http://bit.ly/SFTBrunr">this running record form</a> to track students' fluency skills. We are starting our nonfiction unit this week, so I <a href="http://bit.ly/SFTBnonRR">altered the form</a> to meet our nonfiction criteria of main idea and details. <br />
<br />
<u><i><span style="font-size: large;">SeeSaw:</span></i></u><br />
If you don't have a <a href="https://www.raz-kids.com/">Raz-Kids</a> account <i>SeeSaw</i> is an easy to use app that allows you to keep a record of everything for your kiddos. One feature is the ability to take video. Each week, my students choose one book from their "just right" ziplock and video themselves reading it. Just like <a href="https://www.raz-kids.com/">Raz-Kids</a>, the video, in this case, gets sent to me. I am then able to use the same forms to track running records for each of me students.<br />
<br />
These two tools have been a game changer for me. I love that I can knock out 5 running records from the comfort of my couch, after little man is in bed. But even better is the fact that I have the time to be methodical in my teaching with each of my student's next steps.<br />
<br />
How do you find the time to meet each of your student's needs during Readers' Workshop? Do you have a favorite tech tool that you use to during Readers' Workshop?<br />
<br />

You have been a huge part of my life forever! As a teacher, I have an excuse to use you everyday, but now, oh man, now I have a better excuse!<br />
Enter...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0DpryjsqV2d-aHouo7i-d-YzfwWoN1ggv2LfDz3kU2xPoT1o6snHBcLLvNF2y12C6XcsaIwNzyY5PJPcK72x7q3L-C_owvu6V0reTPlL0EWIAhSPlsvILwpKD_AFjcQd7oUBHKcLmHfw/s1600/Slide3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0DpryjsqV2d-aHouo7i-d-YzfwWoN1ggv2LfDz3kU2xPoT1o6snHBcLLvNF2y12C6XcsaIwNzyY5PJPcK72x7q3L-C_owvu6V0reTPlL0EWIAhSPlsvILwpKD_AFjcQd7oUBHKcLmHfw/s320/Slide3.png" width="247" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://www.clinique.com/crayola"><i>Crayola</i> Chubby Sticks</a>, by <a href="http://www.clinique.com/">Clinique</a>! Guys!!!!!! These are AMAZING! This is coming from someone who does NOT like makeup. Seriously, I do not like the way that it feels on my face, but I am not getting any younger and I need to do something to look more "put together". <br />
So, these Chubby Sticks have a creamy texture and they go on super smooth. What I like most is that the colors are not the ones that stain your lips. These have a lighter appearance, even the bolder colors.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUAJ3XVB8rdQ6T0b0EgViy4_bIY0jKPj-PUt_VOnCiYvc1bIbiaZmwEtxpEoXSitnT73KxabDkWzatoAjs6rkWFzJEQgq4lSbNc6HS7bPZwfgeXpbK5_2lOAo0zhpajMdjAzpqjCmRjO8/s1600/Slide2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUAJ3XVB8rdQ6T0b0EgViy4_bIY0jKPj-PUt_VOnCiYvc1bIbiaZmwEtxpEoXSitnT73KxabDkWzatoAjs6rkWFzJEQgq4lSbNc6HS7bPZwfgeXpbK5_2lOAo0zhpajMdjAzpqjCmRjO8/s320/Slide2.png" width="247" /></a></div>
<br />
My only disappointment with these is that the case didn't come with all ten colors. For some silly reason <i>tickle me pink</i> and <i>razzmatazz</i> are sold as <a href="http://www.clinique.com/product/1605/44584/makeup/lipsticks/crayolatm-for-clinique-chubby-sticktm-for-lips">individual sticks</a> only.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHTZ9fJHGOU2fuaL7gu_1ASPbpPwobaX3fHSO_CPvnCzlppH_MCsecOhejN5Ohgf-HI5Aaj_m0TesQYTXtcpiUaNIiw3rShJFMaGKF75WcIrYD3KEeyRbpqDgXdG_n46OGRbmdtgBKXmA/s1600/Slide1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHTZ9fJHGOU2fuaL7gu_1ASPbpPwobaX3fHSO_CPvnCzlppH_MCsecOhejN5Ohgf-HI5Aaj_m0TesQYTXtcpiUaNIiw3rShJFMaGKF75WcIrYD3KEeyRbpqDgXdG_n46OGRbmdtgBKXmA/s320/Slide1.png" width="247" /></a></div>
<br />
<i>Clinique</i> will only have these <a href="http://www.clinique.com/crayola"><i>Crayola</i> Cubby Sticks</a> for a limited time, so if I were you, I would jump over to their site and grab a set today.<br />
<br />
So my <i>Crayola</i> finds didn't end at the amazing Chubby Sticks. Have you seen these <i>My Color Is...</i> packs?!?! Each color pack is loaded with <i>Crayola's</i> fabulous products, but in only that color. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn5HeRuowQwrNOlHLs-bRXa8fbFH72txG8dxCO0MCOE8u2t16LFXmyp5zx5Br3Ki7pspVWBDkg43ymaInFeFwmRpvCVXmqKMjcavtp5kQA_piY4Ve_YovDSxq6AQHrO4iclSin5hxmMrA/s1600/Slide4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn5HeRuowQwrNOlHLs-bRXa8fbFH72txG8dxCO0MCOE8u2t16LFXmyp5zx5Br3Ki7pspVWBDkg43ymaInFeFwmRpvCVXmqKMjcavtp5kQA_piY4Ve_YovDSxq6AQHrO4iclSin5hxmMrA/s320/Slide4.png" width="247" /></a></div>
I was able to find <i>My Color Is Pink</i>, at my local Target, but I am on the hunt for the other colors. The window crayon has been a huge hit in our house lately, and I can't wait to use it in my classroom.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The weather here has been absolutely NUTS! Being that I grew up in Michigan, it still drives me crazy that Portland hasn't gotten their act together and learned that rock salt and snow plows are a must this time of year. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Either way, I have loved this time with little man. He has developed into such a creative, funny guy and I love witnessing his learning.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_Nd0VvAcn7wM2NX77VnXE3uCG3OKqkRjZ44-2QM9Q2GSUU1dnoan0uaRrTBOXtZFOd6JOcvcthsIbmWHMvDL0-_cB4y0FT4FUL3LWtjOacZlM14dj0vixMawGYuN4Pt1scD3pIVJ8f40/s1600/Slide1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="247" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_Nd0VvAcn7wM2NX77VnXE3uCG3OKqkRjZ44-2QM9Q2GSUU1dnoan0uaRrTBOXtZFOd6JOcvcthsIbmWHMvDL0-_cB4y0FT4FUL3LWtjOacZlM14dj0vixMawGYuN4Pt1scD3pIVJ8f40/s320/Slide1.png" width="320" /></a></div>
Unfortunately, we couldn't get out and do much exploring, we hit record low temperatures, so we made use of some items from the craft closet, or as my husband calls it the "crap closet".<br />
These activities kept this 18 month old happy, engaged, and in one place for more than 5 minutes. That my friends is amazing!<br />
<br />
Pom-Poms, plastic IKEA bowls, and tongs were perfect for sorting and practicing colors. The fine motor practice was incredible. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhav8zzbpFfccJsYEyRarlCHwhm52oZG-21Lwg9S4MoPCLfIjDNtSZBdZtDwFGxCns6RygtFF988FvUw1LWFkCyjJwVpeHmJ5GbWfheMQ1_j2-Zkhr3fe2p3BHDQesLYZkFHV9y_FXGksE/s1600/Slide2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="247" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhav8zzbpFfccJsYEyRarlCHwhm52oZG-21Lwg9S4MoPCLfIjDNtSZBdZtDwFGxCns6RygtFF988FvUw1LWFkCyjJwVpeHmJ5GbWfheMQ1_j2-Zkhr3fe2p3BHDQesLYZkFHV9y_FXGksE/s320/Slide2.png" width="320" /></a></div>
We reused a milk container and added colorful paperclips and cut up pipe cleaners. Little man used a magnet to move all of the pieces around. He loved trying to move them from one side of the container to another.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixX3n1AemN13XkVh8u0DU1T6U3QysuCFCvgjMRXZWHxUZi4nUt16iSDdKCf_b5K-2ShCTZePS9PqplE18lWXSYLwBFjYw6wAGzASak7P7o5EYfj2eZION1DUzoxZ2lHkCalU74tmHWCPk/s1600/Slide3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="247" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixX3n1AemN13XkVh8u0DU1T6U3QysuCFCvgjMRXZWHxUZi4nUt16iSDdKCf_b5K-2ShCTZePS9PqplE18lWXSYLwBFjYw6wAGzASak7P7o5EYfj2eZION1DUzoxZ2lHkCalU74tmHWCPk/s320/Slide3.png" width="320" /></a></div>
The pom poms got another go with a piece of pool noodle. Little man stuck each one in the center of the noodle and then I blew them out. He couldn't get enough of the pom poms flying all over the living room and then setting it up to do it again.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We have been having a great time with colors lately. He is starting to recognize more colors and is very interested in learning the names of each color. We used these <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Word-and-Number-Steps-FREEBIE-Letters-Numbers-and-Colors-Edition-2958809">interactive steps</a> to practice a different way.<br />

You can read it here as well:<br />
There is no denying the fact that stress is all around us. As adults, we are more aware of what causes us stress, and how we can cope with it. As a working mom, I am stressed all the time. However, I have learned that active movement and breathing exercises help me cope with it. <br />
Unfortunately, this is not the case for many children. Children are inundated with demands and stimuli constantly; it is honestly never ending. Due to this, there has been a rise in childhood stress and anxiety with little understanding as to what to do. It is however important to note that some stress is good! Learning is stressful, but the art of learning and having a growth mindset is imperative.<br />

So, how do we as parents help our children tame and tackle this anxiety they feel? We use <i><a href="https://www.gonoodle.com/">GoNoodle</a></i> as a tool! <i><a href="https://www.gonoodle.com/">GoNoodle</a></i> is packed with breathing exercises, focus tools, and intention setters to help with the stress and anxiety that children deal with.<br />

<br />
Here are a list of my top 5 GoNoodle videos for easing stress and anxiety in children:<br />
1. <i>Rainbow Breath</i> - this guided breathing exercise provides a beautiful visual of taking a breath to eliminate the stress.<br />
2. <i>Begin Again</i> - in 3 minutes and 26 seconds, children are guided through a refocus exercise to strengthen their growth mindset. This is the perfect video to do with your children before sitting down to work on homework, or before they leave for school. I love having a conversation about how the video helped as well.<br />
3. <i>Swirling</i> - just like numbers 1 and 2, this is a video under the FLOW Channel. Swirling is a focus tool that teaches kiddos how to take all the chaos around them and let it settle into a quiet pile.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8D1a8K6k_S8ZkebLKxjcUYGumCu1xjkwUGBvKkXl8xBZD-9ZCAsapYbh6d0D5gNISET1PL2xDCDjCILCdfNdsnrqOY79FptXk-HpSIHPW8EGnxmuJ-uOv9_NYcYTBIOMvFG0tfAiNKac/s1600/915.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8D1a8K6k_S8ZkebLKxjcUYGumCu1xjkwUGBvKkXl8xBZD-9ZCAsapYbh6d0D5gNISET1PL2xDCDjCILCdfNdsnrqOY79FptXk-HpSIHPW8EGnxmuJ-uOv9_NYcYTBIOMvFG0tfAiNKac/s320/915.png" width="320" /></a></div>
4. The <i>Think About It </i>channel! Seriously, every video on this channel is AMAZING! I honestly use them myself. They are one minute intention setters that allow children, or adults for that matter, to create a focus and intention to their day. These are perfect to do before leaving for school in the morning, plus they also provide a great conversation starter after school.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

5. <i>Hug It Out</i>, with <i>Maximo</i> - before or after a stressful event everyone needs a hug. <i>Maximo</i> guides kiddos through mindful movement while incorporating cross-lateral movement, an important motion for brain development.<br />
I hope that you and your children find some success with the videos that I have mentioned. If you try any of these or use other ones at home let me know in the comments! Happy Movement!!!<br />

Well friends, I found a great one...<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://stemread.com/">STEMRead.com</a></span><br />
This site is developed by <i>Northern Illinois University </i>and they did a great job! The <a href="http://www.stemread.com/books/">"books" tab</a> is my go to. There are recommended titles for elementary, middle, and high school classes. But, they didn't stop there; each book also has extensions and lesson plans that support NGSS! What?!?! Jackpot!!!<br />
Just check out the books they recommend for my kiddos:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6GNIJX1T0MwxL04QmtqvnNmCj0G4k_2EAxVib-RyHdQZwDBbDpSv0S6F3pVG-tSstQdDoza-fODwWDidH_IH7LxlMygVnIxEpW8lJHgNNiR1VThrRPtCCCd438oumyJLtJpzCK0YCgS8/s1600/STEM+read+link.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6GNIJX1T0MwxL04QmtqvnNmCj0G4k_2EAxVib-RyHdQZwDBbDpSv0S6F3pVG-tSstQdDoza-fODwWDidH_IH7LxlMygVnIxEpW8lJHgNNiR1VThrRPtCCCd438oumyJLtJpzCK0YCgS8/s640/STEM+read+link.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Plus, like I mentioned, each of these books has extensions and teaching tools. All you have to do is click on the book.<br />
Woohoo for a great find!!!<br />
Do you have a favorite teacher resource? I would love to know about it. Leave a link or title in the comments below.<br />
